Reserve Time
The RisoLAB reservation system will open for booking on Saturday, May 31st at 12:00 pm. Note that all login credentials from previous semesters will be cleared and RisoLAB users who have access to the Lab will be issued new usernames and passwords. Please contact risolab@sva.edu with any questions.
When the RisoLAB is open for on-site printing, all students who are currently enrolled in a Continuing Education or Undergraduate course at the SVA RisoLAB or who have paid for lab access after completing a full semester long course are free to book printing time using our print reservation system.
Updated Policies:
Summer 2025
- All reservations are limited to two hours per session.
- Printers enrolled in classes can book a total of four hours per week.
- Printers enrolled in Open Lab Access can book a total of six hours per week.
- Printers enrolled in Continuing Education classes and Open Lab Access can book up to two weeks into the future.
- MFA Visual Narrative students and Artists in Residence can book up to three weeks into the future.
- Riso 4 will be reserved for MFA Visual Narrative students from 10 am to 1 pm Monday through Thursday until July 24th.
- Last minute cancellations or no-shows will result in the loss of booking privileges for one week.

Thank you for your patience as we finish the design and production of our updated universal color chart and add all new colors to each reservation role! For your convenience, please refer to the list of available colors below. Note that both of our classrooms will have the same colors available. As always, certain color drums may not always be available due to use by other students or technical breakdowns. We encourage patience and a willingness to adjust your design and consider alternative hues in cases of limited availability.

Printer Policies
Individual reservations can only be made for up to two hours in a single session. Reservations can be made up to two weeks in advance from the date of the reservation request. Students enrolled in BFA classes can book time up to three weeks in advance.
Open Lab Access students are entitled to up to six hours of reserved print time per week; students enrolled in classes are entitled to four hours per week.
These policies refer only to how much time an individual can reserve; additional time can be used if a Riso is free due to a cancellation or early completion of a print project and does not affect these weekly total limits.
Students are asked to indicate the nature of their projects, especially the color drums they will be using during their printing sessions. This will be added to reservation information so that other students can make scheduling requests based on the availability of specific color drums.
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Last minute cancellations or no shows will result in the loss of booking privileges for one week.
The RisoLAB does not charge additional fees for usage of any of our ink colors except metallic gold. We charge a flat rate of $5 per printing session for this color, which can be paid by cash or card in person or through our PayPal account:
The RisoLAB no longer provides unlimited proofing paper outside of class time. During Open Lab Access hours, printers can purchase 50 sheets of proofing paper for $5, which can be paid by cash or card in person or through our PayPal account:
